SP Answers – New Answers Everyday

Over the years SunniPath has answered over 20,000 of your questions through our Answers service. Work on the SP Answers site continues. Since last week we have begun updating our Answers site by posting approximately 10 Answers a day. We plan to do keep up this pace for at least the next few months, insha’Allah. Please log onto qa.sunnipath.com daily for the latest answers. Other developments such as a new look for the website, more teachers, and better usability will be introduced shortly.

DAT – The Future is Bright

At Dar al Tawfiq, SunniPath’s on-the-ground institute in Jordan, Fall-semester classes are now well underway.
This semester we have increased the amount of courses offered to 13 including a number of brand new courses such as Ijaza Level Tajweed, Quduri’s manual explained (Parts 1 and 2), as well as part two of the highly popular Successful Islamic Marriage course.

Courses completed at Dar al Tawfiq also count to SunniPath degree programs which makes them the perfect solution for someone looking to travel to the Muslim lands in search of knowledge. We pray that Dar al Tawfiq will continue to grow and that we will see many more of you over the coming months and years. Ameen.

Courses on the Go

This past Ramadan we ran our first course, “How to Pay Zakat”, that features the new downloadable course content formats. Downloadable material has by far been our most requested feature by students.

For the past few years our teachers, academy staff, eLearning, and multimedia staff have done much research and have been testing several versions to determine what would be the best way to ensure effective teaching and learning is happening and we are all pleased with the results.

Students welcomed this new feature. One student from the course told us:

“SunniPath does a great job of presenting the material in a way that feels as if one is learning in a classroom.”

This fall semester we have even more courses with downloadable content. The list so far includes the following 6 courses:

2. Essentials of Islam (Hanafi)
3. Introduction to Islamic Belief (Part 1)
4. Dawn of the Prophethood
5. Introductory Tajweed
6. Ijaza-Level Tajweed

Our goal is to provide specially-designed download formats for every single course we offer, insha’Allah.

Ramadan Courses

Each Ramadan SunniPath has worked hard to develop and offer unique short courses during Ramadan that helps you benefit and get the most out of this blessed month. Alhamdulillah, this year our Ramadan courses were very popular with a total of 279 registrations.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him):

“On the Day of Resurrection the Qur’an will petition Allah to cloak the one who had recited it with garments of honor and respect. A crown of honor will then be placed on the head of the reciter. The Qur’an will then petition Allah to shower His pleasure on the reciter. Allah will then become pleased with him. The reciter will then be asked to recite the Qur’an, thereby attaining higher ranks of elevation. In reward for each ayat a good deed will be given to him.”

A reminder to myself and all of you to continue enjoying the fruits of Ramadan by keeping up ones recitation of the Quran! An excellent way to do this is through studying the Quranic sciences, from Tafseer to Tajweed. Alhamdullilah for the fall semester we have a number of courses that cover these topics.

In the Tajweed department we have recently included a new course, Ijaza level Tajweed (hafs) which teaches the theoretical and practical application of Quran recitation. Also returning this semester is the popular Basic Arabic Reading and Introductory Arabic courses. In the Quran department for this fall we have courses covering Tafseer, Linguistic aspects and also sciences of the Quran.

Our registrations in these departments are going very well Alhamdullilah, so register today if you still want a place in any of our Qur’an related courses before classes start on Saturday.

Ijaza Level Tajweed (Hafs) - Part 1
Theoretical and Practical Application of Quran Recitation
The first in a 3-part series of courses that gives you an ijaza that will enable you to pass your knowledge of this beautiful science to others.

Ulum al-Qur’an: Sciences of the Qur’an
A comprehensive introduction to the many sciences of the Qur’an including its revelation, collection, arrangement, writing down, types of verses and chapters, occasions of revelation, styles of recitation, and methods of interpretation.

As many of you know from our blog post, sister Saudah was married on the 22nd Ramadan. Saudah and her new husband Tashfeen Ekram now live in Michigan, USA. Our sources tell us that Saudah is settling well into her new life and Insha’Allah we are looking forward to having her back at work soon.

Welcome Ustadha Suamayya

Our most recent appointment is Ustadha Suamayya who joins us as part of the Dar al Tawfiq Tajweed team. Ustadha Sumayya Van den Branden is of Belgian origin, she converted to Islam in 2001. Since, Ustadha Sumayya has studied Arabic and Tajweed, with her husband Shaykh Sulayman Van Ael and has received an authorization in the Narration of Hafs ‘an ‘Asim.
