Habib Umar bin Hafiz’s Visit of SunniPath

And the winners are…

Posted by Saudah Mirza, Outreach Manager on May 11th, 2008

assalamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah,

Jazak Allah khair to all of you who made submissions into the 5-Year “Show Your Love” Contest!

I’m happy to announce the winners.

The grand prize winner is Munzareen Padela of Ronkonkoma, USA. She created and designed a video about SunniPath, at the end of which she asks “Need we say more?” Appropriately, she used as the background nasheed Talib al-Habib’s Knowledge Is Light, which he mentioned at the Eid Concert that he wrote in dedication to SunniPath. You can watch the video here:

The runner-up is Ali Ishtiaq of Lahore, Pakistan who wrote a touching poem about how he found SunniPath:

At Last I Found…..

Modernity had made my vision blur,
Flood of theories caused me to err.

We call each other Devil’s Advocate,
As if we wrote the humanity’s fate.

“Moral Relativity” cried the modern age,
“God is dead” proclaimed the new sage.

This labyrinth was making me crazy,
For reality was becoming too hazy.

I cried, “Where is the Archimedean Fulcrum?”
Someone said, “Dig the Traditional curriculum.”

Oh No!! I hate the word “Tradition”,
It never fits the modern condition.

But I couldn’t hold my own curiosity,
Maybe this was God’s sheer Generosity.

Soon, I find myself in a SP class.
Online course make easy my task.

There, I received the pearls of knowledge,
That I would never imagine in modern college.

I sensed the flesh and blood of every preacher,
That spent to preserve the words of the Last Teacher.

How could Muslims just trust their reason alone?
They’ve something more precious then Philosopher’s Stone.

But now, I don’t give my ears to chatters,
For it’s me, my Lord, and my grave…Nothing else matters!!

I thought I’d also share this submission from Ibraheem Shakfeh from the US, who sent us a picture of something he wrote for us: “Shukran Jazeelan Lakum. Allamtumuna ‘Ilmakum.” which roughly translates to: “Many thanks to you. You taught us your knowledge.”

Truly, it’s really a big Jazakum Allah khair to all of you, our students and supporters, for being with us and making dua for the success of this endeavor to spread sacred knowledge everywhere.
