HIGHLIGHTS
2008 Plans: During our last all-staff meeting on January 26th, SunniPath Management presented departmental plans for 2008. Some of the highlights of the upcoming year insha’Allah include:
We’re all extremely excited about what this year will bring. Please make dua for tawfiq in achieving our goals! Spring 2008 Update: Our Spring semester got off to a great start last weekend. It’s not too late join the community—late registration is open until February 22nd. Register today. Mawlid Recording: In case you didn’t see it, the recording for the mawlid for students we had in December has been posted. Watch it here. Answers Redesign: For over a year, we’ve been developing a comprehensive redesign to tie in all pages of the site. After a lot of time, effort, usability tests, surveys, and feedback, we’ve recently brought a number of pages into the new design. Keep a look out for the upcoming redesign of SunniPath Answers, which should be up very, very soon insha’Allah! Conference for Students: Our first ever conference for students on February 2nd, Living Islam on Campus, was successful alhamdulillah, and all the talks were excellent. There were a few groups in attendance, including students from McGill University, Rutgers, Harvard, Queen’s, University of Hull, and University of Alberta. Jazak Allah khair to the teachers, MSA National, Compass, and all those who attended! New Articles: We have a couple of new informational articles on the website. One is How SP Fits in which we’ve profiled three types of our students and explored how they manage to add coursework to their already packed schedules. Read about full-time students, working professionals, and busy housewives. Our second article talks about the question: Are SunniPath Courses Worth It?

STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS Ustadh Sulayman Shahnewaz has joined SunniPath as a Team Leader for the Arabic Department. Prior to this, he was working part-time with SunniPath as an Arabic Instructor for Introductory Arabic 2. In addition to his current teaching role, he will assist in ensuring that the student learning experience is improved in all Arabic Courses. Prior to joining SunniPath, Ustadh Sulayman was teaching ESL at Amideast in Amman, Jordan. He comes with many years of Arabic Teaching experience in MSA and Rihla 1996/97. He completed two years of Arabic at the famous Abi Noor Institute in Damascus, Syria and also holds a Bachelors (Honors) in Middle-Eastern Studies (Arabic and Persian Language) from Manchester University in England. Brother Mohammed Iqbal has joined SunniPath as a Project Manager. In this role, he will be responsible for ensuring different SunniPath projects are completing on schedule. This is crucial for timely development and improvement of different services. Brother Iqbal comes with over 24 years of project management and corporate experience. He worked extensively with Information Technology related project management for the last 11 years. Sister Khadija Kandil has joined SunniPath Academy as a Course Assistant. In this role, she will be responsible for communication with students in their courses. This position is specifically catered towards ensuring that logistical support is provided to students during their learning experience. Sister Khadija comes with a background in nursing, which provided her with experience in dealing with gentleness. |
