Praying for the Dead

Posted by Amna Ahmed, SunniPath Student on November 12th, 2007

Salam,

Quote taught in “The Lives of Man” SunniPath course:

“(One) must not forget his dead ones when he prays, asks forgiveness, or gives alms, lest he in turn be forgotten after his death, for the one who remembers is remembered. and the one who forgets is forgotten. Benevolence goes ahead of you, and God allows not the reward of those who have done good to be wasted [18:30]”

~ Imam Abdullah Ibn Alawi Al-Haddad’s “The Lives of Man: A Sufi Master Explains the Human States Before Life, In the World, and After Death”

I lost my grandmother yesterday, i miss her very mcuh and she will always be in my prayers.

Just want to ask you all to say a little prayer for her too (may allah bless you all) ameen

Salam,

My condolences to you and your family…may Allah reward her with Jennah and make her grave full of peace and serenity.

A dua for her and all of the deceased Muslimeen:

“O Allaah, forgive and have mercy upon them, excuse them and pardon them, and make honorable their reception. Expand their entry, and cleanse them with water, snow, and ice, and purify them of sin as a white robe is purified of filth. Exchange their homes for better homes, and their families for better families. Admit them into the Garden, protect them from the punishment of the grave and the torment of the Fire.”

Ameen.
