Knowledge Is a Click Away!

As our summer semester winded down, I felt like I was going to go through withdrawal. I’ve taken at least one class a semester at SunniPath Academy for a few semesters now. Browsing through the course catalog recently, I felt perplexed. I had (and still have) no idea which courses to take. They’re all just so tempting. I guess that’s why there’s a workshop this weekend on “How to Choose a Course.”

Anyhow, as I listened to my last live sessions a few weeks ago- I remembered how lucky we are. We have this amazing amount of knowledge accessible at our fingertips. What an amazing blessing. We don’t even have to travel for our knowledge. We can keep up with our day-to-day lives and access our classes or free live sessions-alhamdulillah.

Listening to one of the lessons I had missed, Ustadha Noura was telling us about Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with him). Ibn Abbas was a great hadith collector and after the Prophet (may prace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he went door to door collecting hadiths. Once he came to a companion’s house who happened to be sleeping. Ibn Abbas stayed at the doorstep and didn’t try to wake up the companion. When the companion finally woke up and came to the door and saw Ibn Abbas, he asked why he had not tried to wake him up. Ibn Abbas said, “Knowledge is gone to, not called for.”

As simple as a statement it is, it shows how much respect people had for knowledge. But in a way, we have the same opportunity in front of us. SunniPath is right in front of us. Are we going to open our doors and walk out to seek knowledge or will we sit by, waiting for the day when knowledge randomly comes to us? All we have to do is sign up for a course and make sincere intentions for Allah. So do it. Knowledge is right here, right now. Don’t delay and register today!
