Salaam,

Is what is taught in this short course also taught in the course hadith methodology?

A good course that Sunnipath should consider offering as well - is a course just solely on Qadr and Divine Plan. This is such a hard concept for Muslims to understand - and if we have an in depth discussion on it - it would help.

The course would look at case studies of how Qadr was understood by pious people but also it would look at social situation (here a social worker should be sought) and how people struggle in life by not understanding this concept. It could be a short 4 week course. It would be helpful given recent situations all over the world and Muslims wondering why God is allowing the calamities to touch Muslims.

I know some social workers you may want to consider discussing the topic with.

wa ‘alaykum assalam,

No, it’s different. The Hadith methodology course teaches the process by which a hadith was authenticated and deemed reliable or not by the hadith scholars (i.e. judging whether the Prophet, peace be upon him, really said it or not).

This course covers how the imams of the four schools of law extrapolated rulings from hadith; why they might not have taken a ruling from a sahih hadith; how they interpreted the meanings of hadiths; etc.

Jazak Allah khair for your course suggestion, I will pass it along.

Asalamualaikum,
Will this course be repeated in next semester? I’m interested, however, I’m already in a few courses at this present semester.

Salam,
Farah

assalamu ‘alaykum,

I’m not sure at this point when exactly it will be offered again.

Sorry for not being able to be of more help.

wasalaam.

salaam,

This looks like an interesting course. I am planning on taking it in’shallah.
